U2 (tickets) calls Dublin, Ireland home. The band came together with Larry Mullen Jr. (b. Oct. 31, 1961; drums) posted a notice on a high school bulletin board looking for musicians to form a band. Bono (b. Paul Hewson, May 10, 1960; vocals, guitar), the Edge (b. David Evans, August 8, 1961; guitar, keyboards, vocal), Adam Clayton (bass), and Dick Evans responded to the ad and the group formed as a Beatles and Stone cover band called the Feedback, before changing their name to the Hype in 1977. Shortly afterward, Dick Evans left the band. The group changed their name to U2. 2005 brings the release of "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. It has been certified triple-platinum for shipments exceeding 3 million copies.

 

About the 2008 Tour

U2 (tickets) have smashed Irish box office records with ticket sales for their Dublin concerts, after more than 150,000 were sold within 50 minutes. In Belgium and Austria the tickets were sold within 60 minutes. In Vancouver, Canada, the band had scheduled one show but tickets sold out in 5 minutes, so a second show was added. Kings of Leon will be supporting U2 (tickets) for the American leg of this tour.
